Domain Parking
Domain parking occurs when a domain name is purchased and registered but not put to use. Basically, the domain name sits there and, whenever accessed, generally points to a "Parked Page" that displays information for the initial domain provider.
Domain parking is great if you know of a venture you would like to pursue in the future and want to make sure your domain name of choice has not been taken at that time. The domain name will sit in your name until you are ready to use it.
